Dear Jonathan,
Don't forget to pack your lunch tonight. You went shopping on Sunday for a reason. Yes, I know the sandwiches at Nectar are good, but it's a treat—maybe on Friday. Plus, you're saving for New York, so pocket that cash. Get off your phone a little earlier tonight; trust me, you'll thank yourself when that alarm goes off at 5 a.m. Remember, you love training—you live for it. It keeps you sane, and you only hate it when you're not getting enough sleep. So, put the phone down. You won't die. And don’t give me the excuse of, “Well, I'm making a TikTok for Freedom Fitouts, so it’s work.” Shut up, man. Go to sleep.
Use your days well, man. You aren’t here forever, so choose and use them wisely. Struggling with something? Look around you—look a-fucking-round you. Look at all the beautiful people you can talk to if something’s on your mind. Take time to pause; give yourself a break from time to time. I know you compare yourself to others, whether it’s in day-to-day life or in business. Just step back and compare yourself to where you were six months ago. You know you’re bettering yourself daily; it’s on your whiteboard of non-negotiables. Whether it’s reminding yourself to walk lightly and keep judgmental thoughts out of your mind, or the physical side—in the gym and in running. Remember, it keeps you sane, and you fucking love it—when you get enough sleep
Good on you for doing it—for sticking to your word, something you know you've struggled with in the past and would then just book a plane ticket to ignore whatever it was you said. But this time, you did it. You finally started your van building business. Freedom Fitouts kicked off this year, and it kicked off well. Remember in November last year when you said you wanted to do six vans in 2024? You've had your hands in 12 vans since starting five months ago... You've been busy, boy. The late nights, the Sundays in the workshop to deliver the best product possible—proud of you, man. I see the quality of your work improving as well; it's inspiring to see. Keep at it. Play the long game, homie.
Oh, I heard you’ve started doing long longgg distance with your lover, G. Man, that shit must be hard. I hope your heart is doing well. You've got this though—love like that is rare, and I know you two are unstoppable. Just imagine how unstoppable you’ll be after these 12–18 months apart. Plus, a white Christmas this year—that’s all-time! I know how excited you are; keep looking at your countdown app—it’s getting closer.
Anyway, thanks for being you. We appreciate you. We appreciate your honesty, even when it’s served with tough love. It comes from a deep and meaningful place of care and pure love.
Sleep well, and put the phone down.
Big love,
Jonathan
Write yourself a letter.
We don’t check in with ourselves enough and for me, this is a way to do it that makes it fun.
Turn everything into a game.
I’m proud of you.
